Abstract
ABC Co., Ltd. specializes in manufacturing and supplying motorcycle and moped helmets. The subject of this study has over 30 years of experience in the helmet manufacturing industry. Although many new businesses have appeared in Vietnam, participating in the production and supply of various helmet designs to the market, and despite its many years of manufacturing experience, strict quality assurance, diverse designs, and the application of advanced machinery and technology, the company has always maintained its position in the market, not only in Vietnam but around the world. However, the company still faces a situation where its production output only meets about 71% of customer demand. This results in late orders, and personnel must continually work extra. The project will perform research to determine the challenges experienced throughout the glass manufacturing process. According to the company's current situation, the factors of manufacturing output not meeting criteria include extended leadtime and cycle time that does not satisfy Takt time. The author then decided to use a VSM value stream mapping and lean tools to improve the glass manufacturing process. The findings after implementation showed a considerable improvement, with leadtime decreasing from 358 minutes to 228 minutes, a 35.23% improvement. At the same time, Cycle time is decreased from 17.06 seconds to 13.07 seconds, a 23.39% reduction that meets Takt time. Work in process time declined by 49.58% throughout the period.
