Abstract

In order to contribute to realizing the goals set out in the development strategy of Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) for the period 2021–2030 (with a vision to 2045)—namely, “to become a leading research university system in Asia…”—and to fulfill its mission of “piloting new policies in higher education” in support of the nation’s development in the new era of science, technology, and innovation, VNU-HCM has commissioned a study to design a model of an innovative university aligned with these goals and mission.

This paper presents a study on the innovative university model developed with reference to state-of-the-art international research, tailored to the role and scale of national or regional universities and the specific context of Vietnam, while addressing the strategic objectives of VNU-HCM for the 2021–2030 period (with a vision to 2045).
